JACKSON PARK NATURE TRAIL

The Nature Trail was initiated as a project by members of ECO. The trail has been made possible by the support of many people. Grants were given by the State Trails Division of the NC Division of Parks and Recreation; the Community Foundation of Henderson County; Henderson County Travel and Tourism; Melvin Lane Foundation; and the Henderson County Commissioners.

ECO volunteers created the 1.5 mile handicapped-accessible Jackson Park Nature Trail, including a 130-foot boardwalk, opened in 1990. Jackson Park Nature Trail provides an excellent environment for birding, observing wildflowers, taking a quiet walk, and enjoying nature. Jackson park is one of several in the system of parks run by Henderson County Parks and Recreation, supported by Henderson County Commissioners.

Jackson Park bird walks are very popular and are held on the second Saturday of every month throughout the year. If you would like to participate, meet in front of the Henderson County Parks and Administration building (near the tennis courts) in Jackson Park.
