Are you an energetic retiree interested in environmental issues? Would you like to meet with like-minded folks to discuss current topics and do projects? If so, come to a meeting of the ECO Seniors Group. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month in the conference room at the office of the Environmental and Conservation Organization (ECO) at 121 Third Avenue West in downtown Hendersonville. Newcomers are invited.
The ECO Seniors Group Conducts Programs on a Variety of Subjects
Bill Sare, a recent retiree and an ECO volunteer, proposed the idea of the Seniors Group to the board of ECO in 2006. The purpose of the club, in Bill’s proposal, is to “enhance the dynamics of ECO by engaging the great resource of our retirement community.”
This group has sponsored and participated in a wide variety of activities including:
Home energy audit demonstration
Earth Day 2007
Guided tour of Earthaven Community
Forest management for homeowners
Green Building/Green Living Forum
Guided tour of Warren Wilson Colleges's green building and projects
Trip to Oconee Nuclear Power Station
Presentation on "Should Nuclear Power be the Energy of the Future?"
