| Eat Out For ECO - APRIL 21! |
| Saturday, April 21, 2007 |
List of Local Participating Restaurants is Coming Soon! |
|
To celebrate Earth Day weekend and support the environmental work of ECO, the Environmental and Conservation Organization, go have dinner, or even lunch! ECO is launching EAT OUT FOR ECO, a way for area residents to have a good meal, support their local businesses and help sponsor ECO's work to protect area streams, air quality and our fragile ecosystem.
According to ECO Finance Committee member, Penny Keys, "we thought this would be a fun way for people to support the environment and enjoy the wonderful cuisine served up by Hendersonville restaurants." The participating restaurants that are sponsoring EAT OUT FOR ECO this year include:
Mike's on Main, 303 North Main Street
Blue Water Seafood, 532 Kanuga Street
Sinbad Restaurant, 202 S. Washington Street
Three Chopt Sandwich Shoppe, 103 3rd Avenue East
Hot Dog World, 226 Kanuga Road
The way it works is simple. On Saturday, April 21, go to one of these restaurants, eat a great meal and tell them ECO sent you. The eatery has promised to donate a portion of their proceeds on that day to ECO. For more information about EAT OUT FOR ECO or ECO's Earth Day programming, please call ECO at 692-0385 or see us at www.eco-wnc.org.

Adopt-A-Stream |
In honor of Earth Day ...
Let's Clean Up Our Streams This Spring |
ECO's Water Quality Committee is reminding residents to do a "Spring Clean Up" of local waterways by picking up litter and debris in and around streams, lakes, and wet- lands during April. ECO's official Adopt-A-Stream teams, too, are invited to set aside a time that month to get out and pick up litter along their adopted streams.
Residents who would like to sign up for year-round Adopt-A-Stream status are asked to contact the ECO office to receive the paperwork to become an official Adopt-A-Stream team. ECO provides trash bags to teams, can arrange for signage, and arranges for free disposal of Adopt-A-Stream trash at the landfill. Our phone number is 692-0385 and more information is available on our web site at www.eco-wnc.org.
ECO is partnering with Riverlink, which has revitalized its Adopt-A-Stream program. Folks in Henderson, Transylvania, Rutherford, and Polk Counties should contact ECO about Adopt-A-Stream projects. Those in Buncombe, Madison, and Haywood Counties should contact Riverlink's Riverkeeper at 252-8474 or visit www.riverlink.org.
